Biography

Vidha Lal is a distinguished Kathak dancer of the Jaipur Gharana, trained under the guidance of Smt. Geetanjali Lal at the National Institute of Kathak (Kathak Kendra), New Delhi, and further nurtured through the guru–shishya parampara. Her foundation reflects deep command over rhythm, grace, and classical structure, combined with an expressive stage presence.

She has performed extensively at leading dance festivals in India and internationally, including the London Olympics, Sydney Dance Festival, Milap Fest in Liverpool, Singapore Dance Festival at Esplanade, Khajuraho Dance Festival, and Nishagandhi Dance Festival in Trivandrum. Her performances have earned wide acclaim from audiences and connoisseurs alike.

Vidha is an empanelled artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations and an ‘A’ graded artist of Delhi Doordarshan. Her awards include the Shri Krishna Gana Sabha Endowment Award, Kalpana Chawla Excellence Award, Devdasi National Award, Young Women Achievers Award by FICCI, and Atal Samman. She holds a Guinness World Record for completing 103 spins in one minute.

A gold medalist in M.A. (Kathak) from Khairagarh University, she is also a graduate of Lady Shri Ram College for Women, New Delhi. Vidha has served as a repertory artist at Kathak Kendra and has appeared as a celebrity judge on television. Currently, she is an executive board member of the General Council of Sangeet Natak Akademi and an advisory member of Kathak Kendra. As the founder and director of Kathak Resonance Dance Academy, she trains and mentors the next generation of Kathak dancers in New Delhi.
