V V Ramana Murthy is a 4th-gen mridangam artist, AIR TOP Grade musician, and child prodigy. He debuted at 8, won AIR’s music competition, and has accompanied top classical musicians for 40 years.
Biography
V. V. Ramana Murthy was born into a family of mridangam musicians and trained under his father, Vankayala Narasimham. A former TOP Grade staff artist of All India Radio, he has performed in National Programmes, Sangeet Sammelans, South Zone concerts, and broadcasts for AIR and Doordarshan. His collaborations span Carnatic, Hindustani, and jazz musicians. Alongside concert work, he has taught numerous students who continue the family’s musical tradition.
