Uday Kulkarni

Uday Kulkarni’s musical journey began at home, where he learned the harmonium from his father, Govind Kulkarni. This early foundation shaped his sensitivity to melody, accompaniment, and the role of the harmonium within Indian classical music. As his training progressed, he expanded into Hindustani classical vocal music under the guidance of Dr. Bharati Vaishampayan, developing a strong understanding of raga, phrasing, and musical structure.

This dual grounding as both vocalist and harmonium player defines his artistic identity. It allows him to approach music from within the voice while supporting others with balance and awareness. His association with the Swarangan Academy places him within an environment focused on structured learning and performance.

Uday Kulkarni performs across genres within the classical and semi-classical spectrum. As a soloist, he presents vocal and instrumental repertoire with clarity and discipline. As an accompanist, he is valued for his sensitivity and timing, qualities essential for supporting both vocalists and instrumentalists on stage. He has appeared at respected platforms, including the Swaramangesh Festival in Goa, held in memory of Master Dinanath Mangeshkar.

It is important to distinguish him from Dr. Uday Kulkarni, the tabla artist based in Bangalore. While both work within the Hindustani tradition, they are different musicians specializing in different instruments.
