Tushar Dutta

Tushar Dutta’s work reflects deep grounding in traditional Hindustani classical music while engaging diverse concert audiences through Khayal, semi-classical genres and devotional repertoire. His musical journey has been shaped by extensive Taalim across two major gharanas. From A. Kanan and Arun Bhaduri, he absorbed the lyrical and introspective qualities of the Kirana gharana; training under Sunil Bose and K.G. Ginde enriched his command of the Agra gharana’s robust vocalism. Under the continuing mentorship of Subhra Guha, he has developed a blended vocal style that remains rooted in raga structure and aesthetics.

Tushar is an AIR Grade A vocalist for Khayal and Bhajan and has featured in National Concerts broadcast across India. His recognition includes the Ministry of Culture’s National Scholarship and multiple awards for playback singing, including honors at the Mirchi Music Awards Bangla for the film Pendulum. Alongside classical performances, he has recorded prolifically across genres such as Khayal, Nazrul Sangeet, Tagore songs, devotional music, semi-classical works, and fusion collaborations.

His concerts have taken him to major venues in India and overseas, contributing to a broader appreciation of Hindustani classical music. Tushar has also engaged in music education, serving as a trainer for radio learning initiatives such as the classical music program SuraSabha on Gyanbani FM, Kolkata. Through performance, recordings, and teaching, he remains active in shaping the contemporary voice of Indian classical music.
