Tejaswini Sathe, a senior Kathak dancer, leads TANZ Kathak Academy, teaching traditional Kathak with modern outreach.

Biography

TANZ Kathak Academy is headed by Smt. Tejaswini Sathe is an accomplished Kathak dancer and educator. She is a senior disciple and daughter-in-law of Guru Pandita Maneeshatai Sathe and holds a master’s degree in dance from the University of Pune and Bharati Vidyapeeth.

Tejaswini Sathe is recognized for her strong grounding in Kathak technique, with emphasis on clarity of movement, rhythmic precision, expressive abhinaya, and disciplined preparation. Her performances are noted for refined footwork, subtle acting, and the ability to transition seamlessly between varied characters and compositions. She is a recipient of the prestigious Singarmani Award and is an A-grade artist of Doordarshan.

She has performed extensively across India at major festivals, including the Khajuraho Dance Festival, Kalka Bindadeen Mahotsava, Swami Haridas Sangeet Sammelan, Vishnu Digambar Paluskar Mahotsava, Ganesh Festival (Pune), Cuttack Mahotsav, Tirupati Festival, and the Rashtriya Sanskritik Mahotsava 2023, among others. In 2022, she was appointed as one of the lead choreographers by the Ministry of Culture, Government of India, for the Republic Day Parade at Kartavya Path during Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsav.

For over fifteen years, she performed widely with her guru, Pandita Maneeshatai Sathe, across India, the USA, and Japan. From 2019 onwards, she began leading international tours with her senior students, performing in several countries across Europe, Central Asia, and the Middle East. TANZ Kathak Academy has since developed a growing international student base, particularly in Germany, including distance learning programs.

Through TANZ Kathak Academy, Tejaswini Sathe continues to train students in Kathak performance, repertoire, and technique, while presenting structured productions, workshops, and international tours. The academy functions as a platform for preserving the Kathak tradition and supporting the professional growth of young dancers in India and abroad.
