Tejas Katot

Tejas Katoti is an emerging harmonium artist from Bengaluru known for his work in Hindustani classical music. He comes from a strong musical background and is the son and disciple of noted harmonium exponent Dr. Ravindra Gururaj Katoti. His early training began under the respected harmonium maestro Pt. Rambhau Bijapure, after which he continued advanced guidance under his father.

As a performer, Tejas is active both as a soloist and as an accompanist. He frequently provides harmonium accompaniment for his father’s recitals and has supported several vocalists in concert settings. His performance experience includes appearances in early morning concert series such as Deepavali Prabhaat in Bengaluru, commemorative events like Swaragovind marking the birth centenary of Pt. Govindrao Patwardhan, and festival performances during Navaratri, including concerts at the Chettikulangara Devi Temple. He has also been featured in focused solo sessions such as “RS Connect” at Ranga Shankara.

He is closely associated with the Bijapure Harmonium Foundation, which works toward promoting the harmonium as a solo classical instrument. This reflects his alignment with efforts to expand the instrument’s visibility beyond accompaniment.

In addition to his performance career, Tejas has pursued both academic and formal music education. He holds a bachelor’s degree from the College of Fine Arts, Karnataka Chitrakala Parishad, and is pursuing a master’s degree at the School of Performing Arts, Bharatiya Vidyapeeth. He has also earned the Sangeet Alankar qualification from the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal.

His recognitions include the CCRT Scholarship from the Ministry of Human Resource and Cultural Development (2019–2021) and a ‘B High Grade’ artist status from All India Radio. Together, his training, education, and performance record position him among the promising younger harmonium artists in the Hindustani classical tradition.
