⁠Soumendra Goswami

Soumendra Goswami is an Indian classical musician recognized for his dual proficiency in sitar and tabla, representing both melodic and rhythmic traditions within Hindustani classical music. He belongs to the Senia Maihar gharana for sitar and draws from the Farrukhabad and Benaras gharanas in his tabla training. Born into a musical family, he is the son of Smt. Aparna Goswami and noted sitarist Shri Bidyut Goswami, an environment that shaped his early exposure to classical music.

He began learning tabla at the age of three under the guidance of Shri Shankar Debnath and Shri Shambhu Nath Roy, and later started his training in sitar at the age of seven, including advanced instruction from Pandit Kushal Das. Alongside his performance training, Soumendra Goswami has pursued formal academic study in music, completing an M.A. in Hindustani Music (Sitar) in 2022 and a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Physics in 2019 from the University of Delhi, in addition to earning a Sangeet Visharad in Tabla.

Based in Noida, he is active as both a performer and an educator. He performs as a member of musical ensembles such as Shruti Saathi and TalFry, engaging with both traditional and contemporary concert formats. In 2022, he co-founded the Siddhatva Foundation with his mother to promote Indian classical music and support educational initiatives. He also serves as a sitar teacher at Lotus Valley International School and has released original work, including his single SOMAD in 2021. Among his recognitions are the Scholarship to Young Artists (SYA) from the Ministry of Culture, the CCRT National Junior Scholarship for Tabla, the Dada Pandey Award from Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, and qualification in UGC NET (2022).
