Padma Vibhushan Dr. Sonal Mansingh is  a renowned Indian classical dancer and one of the foremost exponents of the Odissi and Bharatanatyam dance forms. Born on April 3, 1944, in Bombay (now Mumbai), she has dedicated her life to the art, not only as a performer but also as a teacher and choreographer.

Sonal Mansingh began her training in dance at a young age, studying under illustrious gurus like Bharatanatyam under the guidance of the legendary guru, Rukmini Devi Arundale, and later expanding her repertoire to Odissi. Her performances are known for their grace, intricate footwork, and the expressive storytelling that characterizes Indian classical dance.

An influential figure in Indian cultural scenes, Mansingh has travelled extensively, promoting Indian dance nationally and internationally. She has received numerous accolades for her contributions to the arts, including the prestigious Padma Vibhushan in 2003, India's second-highest civilian award.
