Siddharth Belamannu

Siddhartha Belmannu was born on 2 October 1996 in Karkala, Udupi district, Karnataka, into a family that valued music. His parents, Usha and Prasad Belmannu, noticed his natural vocal ability at an early age, marked by fluency across three octaves. Recognizing this potential, they enrolled him in formal training in Carnatic classical music during his childhood.

As his musical interests expanded, he was introduced to Hindustani classical music and began training under Sri P. R. Manjunath. His progress during these formative years was marked by steady development in voice culture, raga exposition, and rhythmic understanding. His aspiration to pursue music as a full-time profession led him to seek advanced guidance.

A major turning point in his training came when he was accepted as a disciple of Pandit Vinayak Torvi, a senior exponent of the Gwalior and Kirana gharanas. Under Torvi’s guidance, Siddhartha has been undergoing intensive gurukul training for more than eight years. This phase has shaped his grounding in Hindustani vocal music, including raga development, bandish-based structure, and performance discipline.

From the age of nineteen, Siddhartha has been performing on concert platforms across India. He has also toured with Pandit Vinayak Torvi in India and internationally, gaining practical experience in classical concert settings and accompanying his guru on stage. These tours have contributed to his exposure to diverse audiences and performance traditions.

In addition to solo classical recitals, he has participated in jugalbandi performances with Hindustani and Carnatic vocalists and instrumentalists. He has collaborated with composer Ricky Kej on projects and concerts focused on environmental awareness. His musical range also includes light classical and devotional forms such as Marathi Abhangs, Kannada Devarnama, and Vachanas.

While Hindustani classical music remains central to his work, Siddhartha has also explored playback singing and has recorded for films. His originality and adaptability have been noted within the music industry.

His recorded work includes the album Bhargavi, which features a raga composed by Pandit Vinayak Torvi, along with compositions in Raag Marva, Mishra Pahadi, and Raag Bhairavi, combining classical and devotional material in multiple languages.

Siddhartha continues to develop as a performer within the Hindustani tradition while engaging with collaborative and contemporary formats, positioning his work across classical, devotional, and applied music contexts.
