Sheila Dhar (1929 – 26 July 2001) was a Hindustani classical vocalist associated with the Kirana Gharana, as well as an author and academic. Alongside her musical pursuits, she taught English literature at Delhi University and contributed to cultural writing.
She is known for her books on Indian music and society, including Raga’n’ Josh and Here’s Someone I’d Like You to Meet, which document musical traditions and provide insights into musicians and cultural life in Delhi.
Her work reflects an engagement with both performance and literary documentation of Hindustani classical music, linking artistic practice with narrative and historical perspectives.
