Biography

Shambhu Sisodia was born into a family of musicians in Delhi and received his initial training in sarangi from his uncle, Shri Pt. Ghanshyam Sisodia. He later continued his training under his grandfather, the late Pt. Bapu Lal Sisodia. Belonging to the Gwalior gharana, he developed a recital style shaped by sustained practice and traditional training.

Over the years, Sisodia has performed at music conferences and concerts in several cities, including Delhi, Allahabad, and Indore. Alongside solo performances, he has built a profile as a sarangi accompanist, working with artists such as Pt. Dalchand Sharma (pakhawaj), Dr. Ajay Kumar, and Dr. Rishitosh Kumar, among others. He has also accompanied Kathak workshops led by Pt. Jai Kishan Maharaj.

His performance engagements include appearances at Meghdut Auditorium in concerts organized by Sangeet Natak Akademi, as well as participation in university festivals such as Malhar Utsav and Basant Utsav. In academic settings, he has accompanied graded artists, students, and scholars and has contributed to workshops with musicians like Prof. Pt. Mukund Bhale and Pt. Raj Kumar.

Currently, Shambhu Sisodia serves as a staff artist at the Faculty of Music and Fine Arts, University of Delhi, where he remains active in performance and academic accompaniment. His work reflects a continued engagement with the sarangi in both concert and educational contexts.
