Shadaj Godkhindi

Shadaj Godkhindi stands out as one of the youngest rising voices in the world of bansuri performance, rooted in a family tradition devoted to Indian classical music. Growing up surrounded by flute and rhythm, he displayed a natural sensitivity to shruthi and laya even before he could speak. Under the mentorship of his grandfather, Pandit Venkatesh Godkhindi, and the influence of his father, renowned flautist Dr. Pandit Pravin Godkhindi, he absorbed both the technical discipline of classical music and the versatility required for fusion collaborations.

His early debut and continued presence on stage underline both his talent and the unique position he occupies as a third-generation flautist in a family known for performing together. This rare musical lineage has taken him across Karnataka and to global stages, including Qatar, Hong Kong, Dubai, Oman, and a concert tour of the United States in 2019. His performance with Pandit Purbayan Chatterjee in Thailand further reflected his evolving artistic scope.

Shadaj has also featured on various television platforms, strengthening his outreach to wider audiences. His achievements include being an A-grade flautist for All India Radio and receiving the Annapoorna Devi Award and the NCPA scholarship, along with recognition from cultural organizations such as RamSeva Mandali and Lokmat News.

Balancing classical purity with openness to contemporary expressions, Shadaj Godkhindi continues to build a profile that contributes to the future landscape of Indian classical music while honoring the legacy that shaped him.
