Biography
Sarfaraaz Khan is a Hindustani classical sarangi artist associated with the Kirana gharana, known for his expressive playing and command over the traditional bowed string instrument. Born into a lineage of musicians, he represents a continuation of sarangi performance within the Hindustani classical music tradition.
He received his initial training from his father, Ustad Faiyaz Khan, and later advanced under Pandit Ram Narayan, one of the foremost sarangi maestros. Beginning his performance career at a young age, he has appeared at major festivals such as Mysore Dasara Festival, Gangubai Hangal Festival, and Ekatvam Holi Music Festival.
Sarfaraaz Khan performs on a heritage sarangi passed down through his family, reflecting both tradition and continuity in his music. His repertoire includes raga-based performances and collaborations, with recordings and concert excerpts shared across digital platforms, contributing to wider access to sarangi music.
