Biography
Sanskrati Wahane is a rising star of the Hindustani classical sitar, celebrated for her lyrical expressiveness and technical mastery. Born into a musical family, she began learning sitar at the age of five under the guidance of her father, Dr. Lokesh Wahane, and has since trained under eminent maestros including Ustad Shahid Parvez and Pandit Suresh Talwalkar. Her training spans the Etawah gharana, blending the delicate gayaki ang (vocal style) with the robust tantrakari ang (instrumental virtuosity), creating a performance style that is both emotive and precise.
From her early discovery in a home video to her national recognition, Sanskrati has consistently demonstrated prodigious talent. She has won first prizes in All India Radio competitions and received the prestigious Shri Ravi Koppiker Memorial Award from the ITC Sangeet Research Academy.
A versatile performer, she has appeared at major festivals including the Darbar Festival in London, captivating audiences with her intricate melodic improvisations and evocative raga interpretations.
