Biography
Samriddha Mohanta is a musician from Balurghat, West Bengal, whose career bridges contemporary guitar-based music and Indian classical performance on the sitar. Trained as a guitarist, he works professionally as a performer, composer, arranger, and teacher. His musical activities include solo work, ensemble performances, and collaborations across genres.
While the guitar remains his primary instrument in popular and contemporary contexts, he also performs Indian classical music on the sitar, extending his practice into traditional forms. In 2024, he appeared at a concert hosted by the Sri Omkarnath Mission in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and the Indian Museum in Kolkata, situating his work within institutional and cultural platforms.
Mohanta has performed with live bands and has collaborated with established artists, including singer Divya Kumar, during performances in Mumbai. His work involves both stage performance and behind-the-scenes musical roles such as composition and arrangement.
In addition to performing, he is engaged in music education, offering guitar instruction and sharing techniques related to playing, arranging, and practicing. Although based in Balurghat, he frequently performs in major cultural centres such as Kolkata and Mumbai.
As of January 2026, he continues to be active in the festival and concert circuit, including appearances with the musical group Taraana. His career reflects an ongoing engagement with multiple musical traditions, combining classical training with contemporary performance and collaboration.
