Saee Katdare

Born into a musically inclined family, Saee Katdare’s artistic path reflects continuity, discipline, and an expanding aesthetic range. Her early initiation into Hindustani classical music under Smt. Sarangee Ambekar established a firm grounding in the Jaipur-Atrauli tradition. This foundation was further shaped under the guidance of Dr. Varada Godbole, whose training bridges the Kirana, Gwalior, and Agra gharanas. Nearly a decade of immersive learning within the Guru-Shishya Parampara has informed Saee’s approach to raga development, voice culture, and stylistic integrity.

Expanding beyond khayal, Saee pursued semi-classical music under Vidushi Dhanashree Pandit Rai, a leading exponent of thumri and disciple of Shobha Gurtu. To deepen her engagement with ghazal and thumri, she studied the Urdu language and script under Dr. Farooque Rehmaan, strengthening her interpretative authenticity.

Academically, Saee holds a Sangeet Alankar degree in First Class from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya, a master’s in music with distinction from Bharti Vidyapeeth, Pune, and a degree in sociology from Mumbai University. Her recognitions include first prizes at the Ganvardhan Competition, Pune, and the Swar Sadhana Samiti’s Khayal Gayaki Competition, a National Youth Festival award in Classical Vocal, and finalist status at the Satguru Jagjit Singh Shastriya Sangeet Pratiyogita.

Saee has performed at institutions such as Kalyan Gayan Samaj and Dadar Matunga Cultural Centre and has presented full-length concerts dedicated to ghazals and thumris. She has also composed background scores for Marathi theater. As a regular participant in the Riyaz Series curated by Dr. Varada Godbole, she continues to evolve through consistent practice, performance, and guidance, committed to a lifelong engagement with Hindustani classical music.
