About

Saberi Misra is a Kathak dancer of the Jaipur gharana, known for powerful footwork, rhythmic precision, and expressive abhinaya, active as a performer and teacher.

Biography

Saberi Misra is an Indian classical Kathak dancer and musician associated with the Jaipur Gharana, a style noted for its vigorous footwork, complex chakkars (spins), and strong rhythmic structure. She is recognized for her technical clarity, command over layakari (rhythmic play), and expressive abhinaya.

Her training is rooted in the guidance of her father and guru, Pt. Rajkumar Misra, whose compositions frequently feature in her repertoire. Her performances often highlight intricate rhythmic patterns, padhant (recitation of bols), and creative use of sound syllables, sometimes drawing inspiration from natural soundscapes.

Alongside performing, Saberi Misra is active as an educator. She conducts online Kathak and vocal training, including structured beginner-level courses, and offers specialized instruction in padhant, helping students understand the rhythmic foundation of Kathak.

Her recent and upcoming engagements include performances and workshops at recognized cultural platforms, such as an appearance at Sangeet Sankalp Saptah in Ahmedabad (2023), participation in the Swaramangesh festival in Goa (2025), and a scheduled performance in Kolkata at Uttam Mancha in February 2026 with accompanying musicians on tabla and sarod. Through performance and teaching, she continues to contribute to the dissemination of Kathak in both traditional and contemporary learning spaces.
