Ranjeet Pathak

Ranjeet Pathak is an Indian classical santoor player known for his performances in the Hindustani classical music tradition. He began learning the santoor at the age of six under the guidance of his father, Shri Deochandra Pathak, a noted tabla player. Born into a family with a rich musical lineage, he is the grandson of Ramchandra Pathak, an eminent Ishraj player, and Padma Shri Pandit Shiyaram Tiwari, a respected classical vocalist. This musical heritage played a significant role in shaping his early training and artistic development.

Ranjeet Pathak later received advanced training under Pandit Tarun Bhattacharya, one of the leading santoor maestros associated with the Maihar gharana, the musical lineage established by Ustad Allauddin Khan. In addition to instrumental training, he also studied Hindustani classical vocal music under Pandit Kameshwar Pathak, which influenced his melodic approach to the santoor. His musical education includes recognition through a scholarship from the Sangeet Natak Akademi and the Sangeet Prabhakar qualification from Prayag Sangeet Samiti, Allahabad.

As a performer, Ranjeet Pathak has appeared in numerous concerts and festivals across India, Spain, the Netherlands, and the United States. He is a graded artist of All India Radio, Mumbai, and has also performed on television platforms such as Zee TV and Sahara TV. His work has been recognized through awards, including the Sur Mani Award from Sur Singar Samsad and the Sangeet Ratan Award in Los Angeles. Known for his distinctive technique of gliding the mallets (kalam) across the strings to sustain melodic continuity, he continues to present classical recitals and collaborative performances internationally.
