Biography
Ramprapanna Bhattacharya is an Indian classical sitar artist representing the Etawah Gharana. Initially trained by his father, Sri Ram Udar Bhattacharya, he received further guidance from Kashinath Mukherjee and Pandit Arvind Parikh, both associated with the lineage of Ustad Vilayat Khan.
He began learning sitar at a young age in Kolkata and has since performed at established platforms including the Dover Lane Music Conference, Sankat Mochan Sangeet Samaroha, India International Centre (New Delhi), and NCPA Mumbai. His performances have also extended internationally, including appearances in the United Kingdom and at events organized by Indian cultural institutions abroad.
His work includes concert performances, recordings released under curated series, and collaborations in dance and literary productions. He has also conducted workshops and lecture-demonstrations at institutions such as Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (London), Nishkam Centre (UK), TIFR, and other cultural organizations.
A recipient of multiple recognitions, including national scholarships and awards, Ramprapanna Bhattacharya remains engaged in performance, teaching, and the documentation of rare ragas and compositions. Alongside his musical career, he has also been associated with corporate organizations in the technology sector.
