Biography

Ramana Balachandhran is a young veena exponent in the Carnatic classical tradition. He began learning music from his mother, studying both vocal music and veena at home. He then continued Veena training with Vidushi B. Nagalakshmi of the Karaikudi tradition. He also learned mridangam from respected teachers and studied vocal music with Smt. Neela Ramagopal, and he continues to receive guidance from his father, Sri Balachadhran.

He was recognized as a highly talented musician early on and received All India Radio's A grade when he was just sixteen—an honor achieved in the broadcaster's long history. That same year, he made his debut at The Music Academy, Chennai, one of India's most respected music institutions.
