Raghunath Prasanna

Pandit Raghunath Prasanna (1913 – 6 June 1999) was an Indian classical shehnai and bansuri artist from Varanasi. He trained under his father, Gauri Shanker, and Dauji Mishra, and later became associated with All India Radio as a staff artist.

He is known for introducing the flute into a family tradition primarily associated with the shehnai and for adapting shehnai techniques into bansuri performance, influenced by vocal styles. His work included the use of instruments such as the Tripura bansuri and Krishna bansuri.

He was part of a multi-generational musical lineage, with his sons and disciples continuing the tradition. He was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1996 for his contributions to Indian classical music.
