Biography

Pranoy Chatterjee is a young and dedicated tabla player who has steadily grown into a promising artist. Born into an educated and musically inclined family, he was introduced to the tabla at the early age of five by Sri Arun Das, a disciple of the Farrukhabad Gharana. This early exposure laid a strong rhythmic foundation and discipline in his musical life.

His journey continued under the late Pandit Ashok Maitra of the Lucknow Gharana, where he absorbed deeper aspects of classical training and repertoire. A few years later, Pranoy came under the guidance of internationally known tabla maestro Shri Subhajyoti Guho, a disciple of Pandit Sankha Chatterjee of the Farrukhabad and Punjab traditions. Since then, he has remained a devoted disciple of Shri Subhajyoti Guho, refining his technique, tone, and musical understanding.

Pranoy has completed performance tours under the Government of India and the Ministry of Human Resource Development, appearing in many cities across the country. He has accompanied a wide range of senior and junior musicians, gaining valuable experience in both classical accompaniment and stage presence.

His performances include appearances at respected institutions such as IIT Patna, NIIT Rourkela, NIIT Silchar, and NIIT Patna, along with concerts across Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Chennai, Bihar, Odisha, Assam, and other regions of India.

Currently based in Kolkata, Pranoy is associated with Akashvani Kolkata and continues to perform as a professional tabla artist. Through disciplined training, wide performance exposure, and sincere dedication, he is shaping a meaningful place for himself in the field of Indian classical music.
