Biography

Prakhar Vijayvargiya is an Indian classical percussionist based in Indore, working within the Hindustani tradition with specialisation in the Mrudang, particularly the Pakhawaj. He holds a Master’s degree in Indian Classical Music with a focused academic and practical grounding in this instrument, which forms the rhythmic foundation of the Dhrupad genre.

His musicianship reflects an engagement with traditional taal structures, pakhawaj repertoire, and the aesthetics of dhrupad accompaniment. As both a learner and performer, he approaches percussion as an integral melodic-rhythmic element within classical presentation rather than as a purely supportive role.

Prakhar actively performs at cultural venues and educational institutions. In recent years, he has conducted Hindustani vocal and percussion recitals across schools and colleges in regions such as Mainpuri and Firozabad, contributing to music outreach and awareness among younger audiences. These programmes combine performance with demonstration, introducing students to classical rhythm and form.

He maintains an active digital presence, sharing performances and aspects of his musical journey on social platforms, which allows him to remain connected with the wider classical community. Through regular practice, performance, and educational engagement, Prakhar Vijayvargiya continues to develop as a percussionist rooted in tradition and responsive to contemporary performance contexts.
