Pathanay Khan (1926–2000) was a Pakistani folk singer associated with Seraiki and Punjabi music, known for singing kafis and Sufi poetry of Khwaja Ghulam Farid, Bulleh Shah, and Shah Hussain.

Biography

Pathanay Khan (1926–9 March 2000), born Ghulam Mohammad, was a Pakistani folk singer from Kot Addu, Punjab. He was associated with Seraiki and Punjabi folk music and was known for singing kafis and ghazals based on Sufi poetry.

His repertoire included works of poets such as Khwaja Ghulam Farid, Bulleh Shah, Shah Hussain, and Pir Meher Ali Shah. He began singing at a young age and later adopted music as a profession.

He performed on radio and television and gained recognition for his renditions of Sufi poetry. He was awarded the Pride of Performance in 1979.

Pathanay Khan died on 9 March 2000 in Kot Addu, Pakistan.
