Biography

Pantula Rama is a prominent Carnatic classical vocalist known for her command over Ragam, Tanam, and Pallavi, as well as her expansive repertoire of compositions. Based in Visakhapatnam, she is recognized for her voice range, clarity of diction, and structured approach to Carnatic music performance. She has been performing since a young age and is widely associated with traditional yet exploratory interpretations.

She received her initial training from her father, Sri Pantula Gopala Rao, and later advanced under Sri Ivaturi Vijayeswara Rao. Over the course of her career, she has performed at major music festivals and sabhas in India and internationally, earning recognition for her manodharma, technical precision, and balanced integration of theory and aesthetics in performance.

Pantula Rama holds a doctorate in Carnatic music from Andhra University and is a top-grade artist of All India Radio. She has received multiple awards, including those from the Music Academy, Chennai, and the MS Subbulakshmi Award. In addition to performance, she is an academician, author, and founder of the “PaRa—the Supreme” initiative, contributing to the dissemination and understanding of Carnatic music.
