Palghat Ramprasad

Palghat R. Ramprasad is a Carnatic vocalist from a distinguished musical lineage. He is the grandson of legendary mridangam maestro Palghat Mani Iyer and the son of violinist Palghat T. R. Rajaram, who also provided his initial musical training. Ramprasad started performing publicly in 1988 and later earned recognition as an All India Radio A-grade artist. His concert engagements have included extensive tours across India, the United States, Europe, and Australia. Alongside his musical career, he is a development economist, applying quantitative research methods to issues of public health, gender, poverty, and economic growth, and has worked with the Government of Tamil Nadu and several non-governmental organizations.
