Osman Mir

Osman Mir grew up in a modest family in Kutch, Gujarat, where music was part of daily life. His father was a tabla player in Gujarati Bhajan and Santvani traditions, and Osman began performing on stage at the age of 13. While he started as a tabla artist, his passion for singing soon took center stage. Under the guidance of his father and later Guru Ismail Datar, he developed into a refined vocalist.

A turning point came when he performed at Pujya Shree Morari Bapu’s Ashram, where his singing talent was recognized and encouraged. From there, his career expanded rapidly with concerts across India and abroad. His voice, influenced by legends such as Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Mehdi Hassan, Jagjit Singh, and Ghulam Ali, carries both depth and emotional power.

His national recognition arrived with “Mor Bani Thanghat Kare,” chosen personally by filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali without an audition. The song brought him international attention and established him in Hindi cinema.

Beyond music, Osman Mir is admired for his secular spirit. Though a Muslim by birth, he performs extensively at Hindu temples and ashrams and is a regular part of Morari Bapu’s Ram Katha events. He continues to inspire audiences worldwide with his art and message of harmony.
