About
Biography
Ninad Daithankar represents a generation of young Santoor artists expanding the instrument’s artistic possibilities. His performances balance the essential grammar of raga with intricate rhythmic interplay, showing a deep respect for the stylistic lineage of Pandit Shivkumar Sharma. Years of immersive training under his father, Dr. Dhananjay Daithankar, have helped him develop a refined approach to melody, tone, and improvisation.
Ninad’s concert career has taken him to festivals and cultural venues across India, where he has been appreciated for a sound that is both sensitive and confidently crafted. Internationally, he has toured to Canada, performing Santoor duets that showcase the close artistic bond within his musical family. His work extends beyond the classical stage: Ninad is active in studio recording and has contributed to albums, film soundtracks, and independent music projects. His music video Rainbow—Colors of Love has introduced his artistry to a broader digital audience.
Recognition for his growing contribution includes the Citi–NCPA scholarship (2020–21), the Ajay Bakshi Smruti Puraskar, and the Indumati Kale Yuva Vadyavadak Puraskar from Pune’s cultural institution Ganwardhan. These honors reflect his stature among young instrumentalists in the Indian classical field.
