Biography

Neyveli Santhanagopalan (born 1963) is a Carnatic vocalist and teacher known for his adherence to traditional approaches in raga exposition and composition rendering. He trained under musicians including Thanjavur Sankara Iyer, Maharajapuram Santhanam, and T. N. Seshagopalan.

He is recognized for his structured approach to manodharma (improvisation) and detailed raga delineation, with emphasis on tonal clarity and compositional depth. He has performed widely in India and internationally and is a regular participant in the Chennai music season.

He is an A Top grade artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan. In addition to performance, he is active as a teacher and presenter, including hosting the program “SaRiGaMaPa.” He was awarded the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award (2014) and the Sangeetha Kalanidhi (2020).
