Biography
Ustad Nazakat Ali Khan (1932–1983) was a Hindustani classical vocalist associated with the Shyam Chaurasi musical tradition of Punjab. Born in Hoshiarpur district, he was trained within a lineage of musicians under the guidance of his father, Ustad Vilayat Ali Khan, and uncle, Ustad Ahmed Ali Khan.
He is widely recognized for his duet (jugalbandi) performances with his brother, Ustad Salamat Ali Khan. Their presentations reflected a structured approach to raga development, characterized by coordinated vocal interplay and adherence to traditional aesthetics.
Following the Partition of 1947, he moved to Lahore, where he continued his musical career. His work remains associated with the continuation of the Shyam Chaurasi tradition within Hindustani classical music.
