Biography
Dr. Muddu Mohan is a Hindustani classical vocalist associated with the Kirana and Gwalior gharanas, known for his thoughtful renditions of traditional ragas and devotional compositions. Trained under legendary gurus Pandit Basavraj Rajguru and Vidushi Gangubai Hangal, his music reflects a deep grounding in the classical khayal tradition along with a strong emphasis on melodic purity and raga development.
Before dedicating more time to music, Dr. Mohan served as a senior officer in the Indian Administrative Service (IAS) in the Karnataka cadre. Alongside his administrative career, he continued his rigorous training and performance in Hindustani classical music, developing a repertoire that includes morning ragas such as Todi and Shuddha Kalyan, as well as devotional forms like Daasavaani and bhajans.
Beyond performing, he is also active in cultural promotion through the Swara Foundation, an initiative he established to support and promote Indian classical music and dance. Through concerts, outreach activities, and digital platforms, Dr. Muddu Mohan contributes to sustaining and sharing the traditions of Hindustani classical music with wider audiences.
