Biography
M. S. N. Murthy is a Carnatic classical violinist and vocalist representing Andhra Pradesh, with extensive experience as a performer, accompanist, and composer. A disciple of N. Ch. Krishnamacharyulu, he is recognized for his tonal clarity, precision, and aesthetic approach to violin performance within the Carnatic tradition.
He holds the rare distinction of being a top-grade violin artist, an A-grade vocalist, and an A-grade viola artist of All India Radio and Doordarshan. Over his career, he has accompanied leading Carnatic musicians, including performances with M. S. Subbulakshmi, and has presented concerts at major venues such as Lincoln Center (USA) and international festivals across multiple countries.
In addition to performance, M. S. N. Murthy is known for thematic concerts; compositions including Ragam Tanam Pallavi; and contributions to music education and outreach. As an empanelled artist of ICCR and a member of the AIR Music audition board, he continues to contribute to the dissemination of Carnatic music through concerts, teaching, and cultural initiatives.
