Moa Danielson

Moa Danielson Grimstad is a musician, percussionist, and educator with training in both Western and Indian classical music traditions. Based in Europe, she has been active as a freelance performer since 2003, working across ensembles and collaborative projects.

Her Western music education includes studies at the Royal College of Music in Stockholm and the Norwegian Academy of Music. Alongside this, she has undergone extensive training in Indian classical music through the guru-shishya tradition in India. She studied santoor in the Sopori style under Pt. Bhajan Sopori and later with Abhay Sopori, and trained in tabla of the Varanasi gharana under Pt. Kishore Kumar Mishra and Sudip Bhattacharya. Her training also includes exposure to pakhawaj and Hindustani vocal music.

Moa is associated with groups such as Palace on Wheels, Lele Lele Orchestra, and Eastern Bias, participating in performances and collaborative projects. She is also the producer and artistic leader of Stockholm Sangeet and has been involved in initiatives such as EPOS—Equality & Plurality On Stage.

In addition to performance, she works as a tabla teacher and coordinator for the “Music and Dance of the World” department at Stockholm Culture School, contributing to music education and cross-cultural engagement.
