Biography
Guru Mihir began his musical journey under the mentorship of Shri Sabyasachi Sengupta before continuing his guru-sishya tradition with the renowned tabla maestro, Pt. Sankha Chatterjee. Through his association with the Pt. Sankha Chatterjee School of Music, he has mastered three Gharanas: Farukhabad, Punjab, and Delhi. As a regular performer on All India Radio and Doordarshan, Guru Mihir has garnered several accolades, including the esteemed Jadubhatta Award from the Saltlake Cultural Association in Kolkata and the Talmani Award from Sursinger Samsad in Mumbai. He is also honoured with the titles of Sangeet Visharad and Sangeet Vibhakar from the Lucknow Bhatkhande Sangeet Vidyapith.
His illustrious career has seen him share the stage with many distinguished artists like Pt. Jagadish Prasad, Pt. Ajoy Pohankar, Pt. V G Jog, Pt. Kartic Kumar, Pt. Samaresh Chowdhury, Pt. Amiya Ranjan Bannerjee, Pt. Manilal Nag, and Ustad Ali Ahmad Hussain, both in India and internationally. Guru Mihir has performed extensively across various countries, including Germany, Czechoslovakia, Italy, and regions in South East Asia.
