Biography
Manmohan Nayak is an Indian classical percussionist specializing in the Pakhawaj, with a strong association with the Dhrupad tradition of Hindustani music. He is currently affiliated with the Song and Drama Division under the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, contributing to the presentation and dissemination of classical arts through institutional platforms.
As a performing artist, Nayak has accompanied prominent Dhrupad musicians, including Ustad Wasifuddin Dagar, and has collaborated with artists such as santoor exponent Pandit Rajkumar Majumdar and vocalist Sumeet Anand. His performances have also been featured in the National Programme of Music on Akashvani, reflecting recognition within India’s classical music circuit.
He received formal training at Indira Kala Sangeet Vishwavidyalaya, Khairagarh, a leading institution for classical music education. His playing is rooted in traditional Pakhawaj techniques, supporting the meditative and rhythmic depth of Dhrupad performances while continuing to engage with contemporary concert platforms across India.
