Biography

Malavika Nair is a classical Indian dance artist and educator whose training began at the age of three under the guidance of her mother and guru, Kalamandalam Dr. Malini Nair. Over the years, she has developed a strong foundation in Bharatanatyam, Mohiniyattam, and Kuchipudi and has presented her work at noted platforms, including the Chidambaram Natyanjali Festival. Her early training was complemented by consistent participation in state-level competitions and performances, earning her multiple recognitions.

Alongside her artistic journey, Malavika pursued academic studies in civil engineering before returning fully to dance through advanced academic training. She holds higher qualifications in Bharatanatyam from Tamil University and in Kuchipudi from Pracheen Kala Kendra, Chandigarh. She is also a certified instructor from Kafqa Academy, Bangalore. Expanding her role as an educator, she co-founded the Noopur Academy of Arts in Kerala, where she focuses on training students in classical dance traditions, and continues to teach learners globally through online platforms.

Malavika has been recognized as a B-grade artist by Doordarshan Kendra in Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam and has received the Naatya Bhramari Award for Mohiniyattam. She is also a disciple of Guru Smt. Vani Ganapathy and Guru Sri Praveen Kumar. Her work reflects a continued engagement with classical dance as a medium of cultural expression, pedagogy, and artistic continuity.
