Mahesh Ranjan Som

Mahesh Ranjan Shome (also written as Mahesh Ranjan Som) was a Bengali devotional singer from West Bengal, India. He was known mainly for singing Bhakti Geeti, a devotional style of Bengali music dedicated to spiritual themes and religious figures. His songs often praised saints and spiritual leaders such as Sri Ramakrishna, Sarada Ma, and Swami Vivekananda. 

Mahesh Ranjan Shome was born and brought up in West Bengal. From a young age he developed an interest in music and devotional singing. He studied at Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya, Narendrapur in Kolkata, where he also participated in musical activities and developed his singing talent.

During his musical career, he recorded many devotional songs and albums that became popular among listeners of spiritual and religious music. His songs were known for their emotional expression and spiritual message, which made them widely appreciated in devotional music circles. 

Some of his well-known devotional songs include “Emon Bhuban Mohon Oi Rup,” “Gour Namer Jadu Khela,” and “Sreechaitannya Bole Chal Dole.” These songs reflect themes of devotion, spirituality, and respect for saints and religious traditions.

Mahesh Ranjan Shome passed away on 4 July 2020 in West Bengal. He is remembered as a respected devotional singer whose music continues to inspire listeners who enjoy Bengali spiritual and devotional songs.
