Latafat Hussain Khan

Latafat Hussain Khan was a noted exponent of the Agra gharana, a khayal tradition recognized for its dhrupad-influenced foundation, bol-baant, and rhythmic strength. He belonged to a respected musical lineage and was the youngest son of Altaf Hussain Khan of the Agra gharana.

His early initiation into music came from Tasadduq Hussain Khan, who introduced him to the disciplined framework of raga and voice training. He then underwent extended and rigorous taleem under his elder brother, Khadim Hussain Khan, deepening his grounding in Agra gayaki.

He also received guidance from senior gharana stalwarts such as Faiyaz Khan and Vilayat Hussain Khan. This exposure ensured that his music reflected core Agra principles—clarity of swara, weighty voice production, and structured raga development.

Latafat Hussain Khan was particularly recognized for:
