Kousik Banerjee

Kousik Banerjee is a respected Indian classical tabla exponent whose career reflects deep training, performance excellence, and sustained commitment to teaching. Based in Kolkata, he has built a strong reputation both as a solo performer and as a sensitive accompanist, performing in a wide range of classical music settings in India and abroad.

He received advanced training under eminent gurus, most notably Pandit Anindo Chatterjee, absorbing the traditional discipline, repertoire, and aesthetic values of the tabla through the guru-shishya parampara. His rigorous academic and practical grounding culminated in a master’s degree in music from Rabindra Bharati University, where he was awarded the prestigious Presidential Gold Medal in recognition of his outstanding achievement.

Kousik Banerjee holds A-grade status with All India Radio and Doordarshan, a distinction that reflects his artistic merit and professional credibility. Alongside his performance career, he is actively involved in music education, conducting offline tabla classes in the Bansdroni area of Kolkata.
