He started his career in 1990 and underwent structured training under Dilip Patro (Bahadur Kha) for four years, followed by extensive and advanced tutelage under Tejendra Narayan Mazumder for fifteen years. This long association played a defining role in shaping his technical command, tonal clarity, and understanding of raga-based improvisation.

His academic and institutional association includes engagement with the Rajya Sangeet Academy, reflecting his formal grounding in Indian classical music education.

He was awarded the National Scholarship during 1996–97, a recognition that acknowledged his merit and potential as a serious practitioner of classical music. Over the years, he has performed at respected platforms such as the Sangeet Research Academy and State Academy concerts, contributing to scholarly and performance-oriented music circles.
