Biography

Kartikeya Vashist is a prominent Indian flautist and composer whose music reflects a blend of Hindustani classical traditions with folk and global influences. Active as a professional musician since 2004, he has developed a reputation for versatility across multiple woodwind instruments, especially the bansuri and the alghoza (double flute).

His artistic work includes solo classical performances, experimental world music projects, and background scores. Over the years, he has collaborated with well-known artists such as Lucky Ali and violinist Dr. L. Subramaniam (L. Shenkar). He is also associated with the world music band Trippy Sama and has contributed to projects like Folka Dots and the Woody Accouche Project.

Vashist received training at Vrindaban Gurukul and is a graduate of Kirori Mal College, University of Delhi. Alongside live performances, he maintains an active digital presence with releases on streaming platforms. His albums include Bliss (2025), Raag Rageshree (2024), Dive In (2023), and The Winds of Bihu (2021). Notable singles include “Saudade,” inspired by Raga Mishra Charukeshi, and “Yuj.”

His work continues to explore the meeting points between classical disciplines and contemporary sound, making him a visible name in today’s Indian classical and world music landscape.
