Kanchana S Shriranjani

Vid. Kanchana S. Shriranjani is an accomplished Carnatic classical vocalist, widely recognized as one half of the renowned Kanchana Sisters duo. Trained from the age of three under her father, the noted violinist Kanchana V. Subbarathnam, she has been performing since early childhood and has established a strong presence in the classical music circuit.

Shriranjani is known for her specialization in Avadhana Pallavi, a complex and rare form involving intricate tala structures, including ancient cycles such as Simhanandana and Sharabhanandana. Her contributions to this art form have been academically documented at the University of Hyderabad.

An “A” graded artist of All India Radio (AIR), she holds a Vidwath degree in Carnatic classical vocal and violin, securing first rank, and has also completed a law degree. She has received recognition through fellowships and awards, including the Kalaavathamsa award.

As part of the Kanchana Sisters, she has performed extensively across India and internationally in countries such as Finland, Denmark, Estonia, France, the United Kingdom, Norway, and Singapore. Their performances have been featured on Doordarshan and other television platforms and at major sabhas and cultural institutions.

In addition to classical concerts, Shriranjani has been involved in thematic productions, collaborations with poets and dancers, and music compositions for albums and performances, contributing to a diverse body of work within the Carnatic tradition.
