K. V. Narayanaswamy (born 1923, Palghat) was a towering figure in Carnatic vocal music, celebrated for his scholarly approach and deep-rooted classicism. Emerging from a family with strong musical traditions, his early training laid a firm foundation, which was later refined under legendary gurus such as Ariyakudi Ramanuja Iyengar. Through this lineage, he became one of the most authoritative exponents of the Ariyakudi bani, a style known for its disciplined structure, clarity of raga development, and emphasis on musical aesthetics over virtuosity.

His performances were marked by intellectual depth, meditative calm, and an uncompromising commitment to tradition.
