Jyotirmay Tintin Roychowdhury is an Indian classical tabla artist of the Farrukhabad Gharana and a Top Grade artist of Prasar Bharati, recognized with a Gold Medal by Zakir Hussain.

Biography

Jyotirmay Tintin Roychowdhury is a distinguished Indian classical tabla virtuoso known for his mastery of rhythm and his deep grounding in the Farrukhabad Gharana tradition. Recognized as one of the youngest top-grade artists of Prasar Bharati, he has built a reputation for refined technique, clarity of bols, and powerful yet nuanced performances within the Hindustani classical percussion tradition.

Roychowdhury has performed widely across India and the United States, appearing at prominent cultural venues and festivals such as performances at Visva Bharati, Shantiniketan, and events like the Naada Bindu Festival. His repertoire includes traditional compositions such as Rela, Kayda, and Gat, reflecting the rhythmic sophistication of the Farrukhabad lineage. In addition to concerts, he has conducted workshops and lecture-demonstrations internationally, sharing knowledge of tabla performance and rhythmic structures with students and audiences.

A gold medalist recognized by Zakir Hussain, Jyotirmay Tintin Roychowdhury continues to contribute actively to the promotion of Indian classical percussion. He is associated with initiatives such as the World Tabla Council and regularly collaborates with leading classical musicians, presenting solo recitals as well as accompaniment in vocal and instrumental concerts while representing the rich legacy of the Farrukhabad Gharana.
