Jeysundhar D serves in the Indian Foreign Service while also building a distinct voice as a cultural writer and interpreter of India’s spiritual traditions. He is the author of Maalyada: Andal’s Sacred Garland, a literary work that explores the devotional hymns of Andal, especially the Tiruppavai, and links them with references from the Vedas and Puranas. Through this book, he presents ancient spiritual ideas in a form that is clear, engaging, and relevant for contemporary readers.

His work has crossed the boundaries of literature and entered the performing arts. Maalyada has been adapted for the stage and interpreted through Bharatanatyam by leading dancers such as Rama Vaidyanathan, showing how his writing naturally lends itself to artistic expression. This ability to translate scripture into living art has made him an important cultural bridge between text and performance.

As a diplomat, Jeysundhar D has played an active role in cultural diplomacy, including serving as Director of the Jawaharlal Nehru Cultural Centre in Moscow. Alongside this, he shares reflections on Indian culture, spirituality, and epics through modern platforms, using storytelling to connect ancient narratives like the Ramayana with present-day life and places.
