Indira Kadambi

Indira Kadambi is an Indian Bharatanatyam dancer and educator from Karnataka, recognised for her work in performance, teaching, and digital arts education. Trained under gurus, including Sri Janardhan Sharma, Smt. Usha Datar, Smt. Narmada, and Smt. Savitri Jagannath Rao, she has developed a style rooted in classical technique with a strong emphasis on abhinaya, further shaped by her training under Kalanidhi Narayanan.

Her career spans performances across India and internationally, including appearances in the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, France, Switzerland, and Malaysia. In addition to stage performances, she has conducted lecture demonstrations, workshops, and participated in radio and television programmes focused on Indian classical dance. She is also an empaneled artist of the Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR).

In 1987, she co-founded the Ambalam Foundation with Ramprasadh, an institution dedicated to Bharatanatyam and Carnatic music training. The initiative later expanded into eAmbalam, an online learning platform offering structured education in dance, music, and percussion. Alongside teaching in Bengaluru, she continues to contribute to choreography, academic discourse, and interdisciplinary arts education.
