Gourab Chatterjee

Gourab Chatterjee began his journey in Hindustani vocal music at the age of five under the initial guidance of his mother, Smt. Ajanta Chatterjee. After her untimely demise, his formal training continued under Shri Jainul Abedin, where his grounding in classical vocal discipline was further strengthened. He later trained at the academy under Late Pandit Sunil Bose, a senior guru of the Agra Gharana, absorbing the stylistic clarity and robustness associated with the tradition.

His advanced training took shape when he became a scholar of the ITC Sangeet Research Academy, where he studied under the tutelage of Guru Pandit Arun Bhaduri. In 2007, Gourab successfully completed his scholarship, marking an important milestone in his artistic development. This phase refined his approach to raga presentation, voice culture, and the traditional aesthetics of Hindustani classical music.

Gourab Chatterjee has performed at nearly all major music festivals across India and has also presented his music internationally in countries including the United States, Canada, Germany, France, Belgium, Italy, and Sri Lanka. Alongside his work as a vocalist, he is widely recognized as a skilled and sensitive harmonium accompanist. He has accompanied many of the most respected musicians of the Indian classical tradition, including his guru Pandit Arun Bhaduri, Pandit Ajoy Chakrabarty, Ustad Rashid Khan, Vidushi Girija Devi, Vidushi Shruti Sadolikar, Pandit Ulhas Kashalkar, Pandit Kumar Bose, Pandit Samar Saha, Pandit Shubhankar Banerjee, and Smt. Kaushiki Chakraborty, among others.

In addition to his performance career, Gourab Chatterjee is actively involved in teaching and nurturing young talent through his own music school, Philharmony. Through this institution, he trains students in Hindustani classical music and regularly organizes music programs aimed at promoting classical music and inspiring the younger generation.
