Biography
Blessed with an exceptionally original and melodious voice, Ashish stands out as one of the most talented and well-trained classical vocalists of his generation, under the guidance of Shree Aviraj K. Tayade, a disciple of the legendary Pt. Bhimsen Joshi, Dr Ashish Ranade has dedicated the past 12 years to honing his craft. He also learns from the esteemed classical vocalist Shree Anand Bhate, who shares the same rich lineage. Growing up in a musical family, Dr. Ashish began his musical journey with his parents' support. His deep appreciation for his artistic roots is evident in his performances, which blend youthful creativity with artistic depth. Each performance showcases his nuanced understanding of SUR and its emotional essence, allowing his vocal expressions to resonate with listeners. While his vocal prowess spans a wide range, Dr Ashish skillfully balances technical mastery with emotional interpretation. Though rooted in the Kirana gharana, he carves out a unique identity with his innovative improvisations. His extensive repertoire includes a variety of ragas and compositions, enriched by the works of Pt. Rambhau Mate, reflecting his teacher's heritage. Additionally, his interpretations of abhanga, a devotional genre associated with Bhratratna Pt. Bhimsen Joshi further embodies this tradition.
Currently residing in Nasik, Maharashtra, Dr Ashish has been recognised for his talent through a scholarship from the Department of Culture, Government of India. It has received the esteemed 'Yashwant Surashree' Award from the University of Nanded. In 2011, he was also honoured with the Kusumagraj Pratishthan Trophy for Indian vocal classical music in Nasik.
