Diya Chowdhury

Diya Chowdhury is a young Hindustani classical vocalist and a senior scholar at the ITC Sangeet Research Academy (ITC SRA), Kolkata. She is recognized for her training in the Gwalior gharana, a foundational style in khayal music known for its clarity, structure, and emphasis on traditional compositions. As part of the ITC SRA system, she continues to develop under the guru-shishya parampara.

She began her musical journey at the age of four, receiving her initial training from Smt. Romi Roy Chowdhury and Smt. Rumna Dutta Maity. She is currently under the tutelage of Omkar Dadarkar, a noted exponent of the Gwalior gharana. Her repertoire includes ragas such as Puriya Dhanashri, Multani, Vrindavani Sarang, Kamod, and Shree, along with bhajans, reflecting both classical depth and devotional expression.

Diya Chowdhury is an active performer, regularly appearing in the ITC SRA Wednesday Recital series. She has received recognition through awards, including the Sarba Bharatiya Sangeet Sanskriti Parishad Puraskar (2016) and first prize in Nazrulgeeti at All India Radio (2013). Alongside her performance career, she is also engaged in teaching, offering online Hindustani classical vocal lessons, and continues to expand her presence through curated concert platforms and baithak-style performances.
