Biography
Devesh Mirchandani is a Kathak dancer, choreographer, and teacher known for working across classical Kathak and contemporary dance contexts. He trained under the guidance of Pandit Birju Maharaj, representing the Lucknow gharana lineage.
With more than 22 years of experience in the dance field, he has worked as a choreographer for major Indian television dance platforms, including Dance India Dance, Just Dance, and Dil Se Nache Indiawale. Alongside Kathak, he has training and working experience in jazz, contemporary, salsa, and Bollywood dance, contributing to his cross-genre approach.
He runs the Devesh Mirchandani Dance Academy (DMDA) in Mumbai, where he conducts regular training programs. His teaching includes structured Kathak instruction, semi-classical choreography, and foundational work such as tatkaar (footwork). He also conducts workshops in India and internationally.
He offers digital learning resources, including a pre-recorded Kathak tutorial program structured across multiple levels. He has also spoken about Kathak practice and training methods on public platforms such as TEDxICTMumbai, contributing to broader awareness of the dance form.
His work today includes choreography, workshops, and dance education initiatives aimed at students across different experience levels.
